Board Members

Carin S.
Carin Sarkis
| Director Physician Relations/PR, Doctors Medical Center
President

Ms. Sarkis is the Director of Physician Relations with Doctors Medical Center. She is also a past employee with CHS and has been active in the community as a volunteer. Carin is most interested in providing health and wellness services to uninsured and underinsured families.

Patti Reeder
| General Manager, G3 Enterprises
President-Elect

Ms. Reeder is the General Manager - Logistics at G3 Enterprises. Ms. Reeder received her undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia, then traveled the world. After receiving an MBA from the University of Arizona, she settled in Modesto with her husband and son. Ms. Reeder is concerned about a lack of focus on "balanced education".

Mr. McClellan recently became the Merced Market Manager with F&M Bank, and has served on our Board for just over a year. He is concerned about the lack of resources dedicated to education in order to stop the cycle of poverty and abuse.

 

Theresa H.
Theresa Hamilton

Ms. Hamilton was born and raised in Modesto, she received her B.S. in Business Administration and is the Vice President of Operations at Oak Valley Community Bank. Ms. Hamilton feels that mental illness is a real challenge in our community, and that resources need to be readily available to all who need assistance.

Sarah Birmingham

Past President

Ms. Birmingham became a member of the State Bar of California in 2001. She graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree and the same university for her undergraduate degree in Political Science. Sarah is an attorney with Curtis Legal Group and recently became a partner. Previous to joining this firm, Sarah was a staff attorney with Californian Rural Legal Assistance, Inc. Sarah is concerned about children and teen who may not have adequate family support to help them cope with the stresses of growing up.

 

Cheryl C.
Cheryl Carmichael, Ph.D.
| Psychological Associates

Dr. Carmichael is a psychologist in private practice in Modesto. She is a former agency employee when CHS was known as Head Rest prior to 1985. Cheryl worked for Stanislaus County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services for many years and in that capacity she helped CHS staff develop many of our school based services. Cheryl believes strongly in community services and selected CHS to be one of her numerous community activities. She is concerned about school drop-outs and the impact of this issue on the community.

Theresa Fagundes
| Private Practice, Speech Pathologist

Ms. Fagundes is a Speech Pathologist in private practice in Turlock. She is a member of several community groups including Central Valley Professional Exchange and the Fava Day Fundraiser, a local effort to raise funds for children with cancer. Theresa is concerned about resources available for parents.

Ms. Hart is an Accounting Technician with Grimbleby Coleman CPAs, Inc in Modesto. Elizabeth has been involved in many community organizations including the Riverbank Chamber of Commerce and Riverbank Rotary. She is concerned about youth violence and education.

José Limón, MD
| Pediatrician, Valley Oak Pediatrics

Dr. Limón is a pediatrician with Valley Oak Pediatric Association. As a physician, he is reminded daily of the stress placed on families due to physical and/or mental illness. He is concerned about access to health care for youth and families.

Mark Loeser
| Associate Management Consultant, Stanislaus County Chief Executive Office

Mr. Loeser is a Management Consultant in the Chief Executive Office with Stanislaus County. Mark is another former employee of CHS. Mark is concerned about "at risk" youth and how their issues will be addressed as resources diminish in our communities.


Patricia L.
Patricia Logan
| High Risk School Counselor, Modesto City Schools

Ms. Logan has worked with CHS Staff for many years in her former role as Director of Pupil Services with Modesto City Schools and currently as a counselor at Elliott Alternative School. Pat has been an active community member and has been a Stanislaus County Police Activities League Board Member as well as an officer for Delta Kappa Gamma professional sorority. Pat is concerned about "high" risk youth who drop out of school, join gangs and sometimes become victims of violence.

Jane McAllister

Ms. McAllister is in private practice in Modesto and has been a long standing supporter of CHS. Jane joined the Board in 1989 and has been instrumental in helping CHS change with the growing needs of the community. Jane has provided strong guidance and support is areas of compliance, administration, human resources, and has acquired in-depth knowledge of agency practices.

Wendy L. Prather
| CPA, Atherton & Associates, LLP

Ms. Prather is a CPA with Atherton & Associates, LLP in Modesto. Wendy has been involved in numerous community groups including Central Valley Professional Exchange. She is focused on providing resources to the most underserved members of our community and believes that CHS programs help individuals to make positive life choices.

Tom Solomon
| CoSol Commercial Real Estate

Mr. Solomon is a Commercial Realtor and partner in COSOL Commercial Real Estate. He grew up in Modesto and wants our community to be safe and secure. Tom has been very active in the community and is focused on strengthening families so that the can prosper in the future.

| Senior Civil Engineer, City of Modesto

Mr. Wong is a Senior Civil Engineer with the City of Modesto. Will also grew up in Modesto and wants his children to enjoy the benefits of living in this community. He is concerned about teen parents, gangs and violence.
