Program Description

Project TND is an effective, interactive substance abuse 12-week open-ended prevention program. It focuses on three factors that predict tobacco, alcohol, and other drug use, violent behaviors, and other problem behaviors among youth including: motivation factors, social, coping and self control skills, and decision making.

Eligibility

Youth must be in 8th to 12th grades.
Referrals can be made by anyone in the community but they primarily come from school staff and other personnel.

Services

Each referred participant and their parent/guardian must participate in an assessment process followed by a 12 week open-ended class:


  • Session 1   Active Listening

  • Session 2   Stereotyping

  • Session 3  Myths and Denials

  • Session 4   Chemical Dependency

  • Session 5   Talk Show

  • Session 6   Marijuana Panel

  • Session 7   Tobacco Basketball and Use Cessation

  • Session 8   Stress, Health and Goals

  • Session 9   Self Control

  • Session 10   Positive and Negative Thought and Behavior Loops

  • Session 11   Perspectives

  • Session 12   Decision-making and Commitment

Cost

No cost to participants.

Service Area

TND services Stanlislaus County. Currently, however, classes and assessments are primarily done in Patterson, CA.
