Program Description

The Friday Night Live Program (FNL) is a county charter of the California Friday Night Live Partnership.  It builds partnerships for positive and healthy youth development which engages young people as active leaders and resources in their communities.  The program is designed to bring young people and adults working together in partnership to take on issues facing youth today such as underage drinking, drugs, tobacco, youth voice in the community, etc.  Through participation in Friday Night Live youth will have opportunities for school/community engagement, leadership and advocacy, skill building activities, positive relationships with peers and adults, and a safe environment.  Chapters are the name given to each FNL group (schools, community centers, and other organizations are typical sites for chapters).  Chapters consist of youth participants and an adult advisor(s) who work together in partnership to have a positive impact in their community.  FNL offers chapters through these developmentally appropriate cores programs.

  • Friday Night Live (FNL) is designed for high school age youth

  • Club Live (CL) is designed for middle/junior high age youth

  • Friday Night Live Kids FNLK) is designed for elementary age youth

Methamphetamine Prevention Initiative Project

This a project funded through the California Friday Night Live Partnership to address the growing problem of methamphetamine use among young people, and engage youth in a community methamphetamine prevention effort.  The FNL/CL/FNLK programs are continually evolving and adapting to the latest trends and issues affecting youth, responding to current prevention and youth development research, and addressing the unique needs of each individual community.  FNL can leverage its expertise in dealing with youth and the groundwork its done in organizing against youth drinking in the fight against Meth.

A Methamphetamine Action Team (MAT) will be formed of a diverse group of youth and adult allies working together to examine methamphetamine issues in our community and design an action plan based on environmental prevention strategies to address those issues.  The MAT will be focusing on engaging young people in a community prevention effort, raising community awareness around methamphetamine prevention, and providing resources for youth and families in need.
