Center for Human Services (CHS) is proud to announce that we have been selected to receive a Business Recycling Award from the City of Modesto. On Tuesday, November 27, 2012, the award will be presented to a CHS representative by the Modesto City Council at their regular meeting.
CHS established the Going Green Committee in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint in 2008. It is the mission of the Green Committee to create a culture where there is awareness and accountability for and about our environment. Over the years it has grown to become an integrated part of CHS culture. The entire organization participates in recycling bottles, cans, paper, magazines and toner. CHS staff is also accustom to using “green” cleaning products and copy paper consisting of 30% recycled post-consumer fiber. Furthermore, CHS Staff look forward to receiving their monthly email challenges from the Green Committee reminding them of ways to reuse, reduce and recycle, even receiving prizes for participate in the challenges. The challenges focus on energy conservation, no food waste, water conservation, and promoting healthy air quality.
“We’re very proud of the work we do at CHS to be green. We certainly don’t do it for the recognition but the committee is really pleased to be receiving this award,” shared Green Committee Member, Seng Xiong.
