Event History
Edible Extravaganza is the signature fundraiser for local nonprofit Center for Human Services (CHS). CHS began in 1970 as a drop-in center for youth and young adults struggling with alcohol and drug use. Today, CHS provides services through five core program areas: school-based services, mental health counseling, substance use treatment, family strengthening and shelter and housing. Edible Extravaganza began in 1986 and was originally located in the McHenry Village. The event brings together dozens of food and beverage vendors from around the region to showcase their delicious goods. Over the years the event has grown to include live music, a grand raffle, VIP lounges, and more. This event raises thousands of dollars for CHS and helps raise awareness within the community we serve.
Edible Extravaganza Through the Years
2026: This year we celebrate the 40th Annual Edible Extravaganza!
2020/2021: Edible Extravaganza survives changes due to COVID-19. In 2020, we called the event “Edible Extravaganza at Home” and delivered charcuterie boxes, streamed live videos with raffles and live music. In 2021, we hoped for an in-person event but had to pivot to Plan B(asket) where we delivered picnic baskets of goodies from our dedicated vendors to ticket holders and sponsors.
2016: Celebrated 30 years of Edible Extravaganza with a “Back to the 80’s” theme.
2002: Edible Extravaganza is chosen as runner-up for the Modesto Bee’s Reader’s Choice for Best Fundraiser.
1996: Edible Extravaganza is moved to the Modesto Centre Plaza to accommodate the growth of the event over the first 10 years.
1986: First Edible Extravaganza fundraiser is held.
