We have partnered with our neighborhood school, Garrison Elementary, as part of Love Our Schools, a Love Modesto Initiative to increase parent involvement and student academic success.
As a business, we wanted to have a greater role in our new neighborhood and support those who live nearby. As a service provider to youth and families in our community, we felt this partnership was a great fit. We are looking forward to growing this partnership and encouraging other businesses to join us in loving our local School!
The goal of this partnership and other Love Our Schools partnerships is, that every school, principal, teacher, and student will be loved and supported so that assessment scores and graduation rates will increase, families will get more involved and the morale at every school will excel. We are excited to be engaging with Garrison Elementary students and working with the school principal, Rachelle Barkus.
Our employees are volunteering with the school in the following ways:
- Building literacy skills and supporting those students who struggle with reading, in classrooms.
- Playing and mentoring during recess and after school programs.
- Donating a book or incentive items for teachers to use to reinforce learning and good behavior.
- Assisting with family events and special activities.
Parent Cafes are a series of guided conversations about the Five Protective Factors that allow parents to learn from one another, reflect on their own parenting style and make social connections in a fun and welcoming environment. Parent Cafes are free of charge and open to the public. Currently, Parent Cafes are held at Garrison Elementary, Cloverland Elementary and Magnolia Elementary. For more information, or for dates and times, contact Jennifer Rangel at (209) 526-1476 ext 172.
