Adolescent Substance Use Disorder Groups
Program Description
Treatment groups are open to youth ages 12-17. An assessment prior to entering a group is required. The youth and his/her parent(s) and/or guardian(s) meet with a Certified Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselor. After completing the assessment, a youth can attend a 13 week program of group sessions based on the evidence based Motivational Interviewing model. Curriculum for the program includes: The Disease Concept of Addiction, Wheel of Change Theory, Abuse vs. Addiction, Identifying Signs of Addiction, Introduction to 12 Step Meetings, Good and Not so Good Things about Using Drugs, Values, Identifying Triggers, Refusal Skills, and Relapse Prevention.
