Expanding Our Reach With a New Behavioral Health Center

An outpatient behavioral health center will be our newest addition, allowing us to expand access to a continuum of mental health and substance use disorder treatment services for children, youth, young adults and their families.

Since 1989, CHS has provided mental health services in Stanislaus County. In the 2022-2023 fiscal year, we provided mental health services to over 1,600 individuals and substance use disorder treatment to over 860 individuals. We will serve an estimated 1,425 new individuals ages 0-25 and their families by increasing both mental health and substance use disorder treatment slots. The outpatient center will serve as a substance use treatment service hub for teen and transitional-age youth expanding access by 75 to 100 assessment slots and 80 group treatment slots. The project is funded by a $5 million state grant.

Cindy Duenas, former Executive Director, expressed her gratitude, stating, “We are grateful for the opportunity and have plans
to put this investment to good work.” Our groundbreaking ceremony was held on June 10, 2024, at the vacant lot located at 2006 W. Briggsmore Avenue. The new outpatient behavioral health center will be located in the same parking lot as our Youth Navigation Center (YNC) and Center for Human Services Main Office. All three buildings will create a centralized service hub for comprehensive support.

With construction set to conclude in 2025, this 7,000 square-foot outpatient behavioral health center marks a significant step forward in expanding our capacity to provide mental health and substance use disorder treatment services.
