Letter from our Executive Director

I am honored to present to you our 2021-2022 Community Report. This year, we continued to address the impact of the pandemic, working with public and private partners to meet basic needs and provide support to thousands of Stanislaus County children, youth and families. I’m extremely proud of our 300+ employees for their unwavering commitment, flexibility and responsiveness as they provided services at 80+ school sites, our family resource centers in Ceres, Oakdale, Newman and Patterson, the Youth Navigation Center (YNC) and our behavioral health clinic/administrative office.

In October 2021, we opened the YNC of Stanislaus County, a service hub for youth (13-24 years old) in crisis, unstably housed and/or experiencing homelessness. At the YNC, we work to engage, stabilize and prepare young people to be self-sufficient. I’m excited to share that the system is working as we saw 20 young adults move from the low barrier shelter into Pathways transitional housing or other forms of stable housing. Additionally, we saw 15 young adults move from Pathways into permanent housing.

We believe affordable housing is the solution to youth homelessness and in partnership with the City of Modesto, we were awarded Project Homekey grant funds to convert a building on 9th Street into fourteen one-bedroom or studio apartments. The project is on track for completion in December 2022 with occupancy beginning in early 2023.

As always, our work would not be possible without the support of our many public and private partners and community donors. Please know that our results are your results as together, we strengthen our community.
