A letter from our Executive Director
As we reflect on the past year at Center for Human Services, I am filled with gratitude and pride for all that we have accomplished together. Our mission to change lives and build futures through programs that strengthen and support youth and families has guided us through another year of meaningful growth and change.

One of the most significant transitions this past fiscal year was the retirement of our long-time Executive Director, Cindy Duenas. Cindy’s visionary leadership and dedication over the past 14 years were instrumental in shaping Center for Human Services into the organization it is today. We are deeply grateful for her service and wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement!
Looking forward, we are excited to announce that we have made considerable progress on our new Behavioral Health Outpatient Center, which is set to open in March 2025. This brand-new facility will allow us to expand our mental health counseling and substance use treatment services, providing crucial support to even more members of our community.
We are also thrilled to share that our Student Assistance Program has expanded into San Joaquin County schools, allowing us to reach more students in need of our services. This program is a vital resource for young people facing challenges, and we are committed to continuing its growth and impact.
Our Youth Navigation Center remains operating at full capacity and with a waitlist, underscoring the immense need for youth housing services in our community. We are working diligently to find innovative solutions to meet this growing demand and ensure that our youth receive the essential services they need. Last year, we celebrated the opening of the Project Homekey apartments on Ninth Street, adding 14 new permanent housing slots to our community. This project represents a notable step forward in our efforts to address youth homelessness and provide safe, stable housing for those in need.
Our Family Strengthening programs continue to evolve to meet the needs of families and communities. Through our Family Resource Centers, Two-Gen, and Workforce Development, we provide resources and opportunities that empower families. One of our key areas of focus this year is increasing awareness of our programs by deepening community involvement and building new partnerships.
None of these accomplishments would have been possible without the dedication and passion of our incredible staff. They are the heart and soul of our organization, tirelessly working to make a difference in the lives of those we serve. I am constantly inspired by their commitment to our mission and their unwavering belief in the potential of every individual and family we serve.
As we look ahead, we remain focused on our vision of creating a safe and thriving Stanislaus County community. While there is still much work ahead, we are confident that we can build on the successes of this past year and make an even greater impact in the future.
Thank you for being a part of our journey. Together, we are changing lives and building a brighter future for all.
