2000's - A decade of continued growth
The early 2000’s were another decade of continued growth for CHS.
In 2001, Pathways was created as a transitional independent living program for youth ages 18 – 21.
Programs and services included: Patterson Family Resource Center opened in Patterson, Ceres Partnership became an official CHS program, Patterson Teen Center, Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center opened, and mental health services expanded to our satellite offices.
Awards: Edible Extravaganza was selected as runner-up for Best Fundraiser in the Modesto Bee Reader’s Choice Awards, received CDBG awards for youth employment and youth court programs, Congressman Cardoza awarded CHS a recognition proclamation for our services to the community, and we received Changing Lives awards from United Way for several programs.
Grants and funding: awarded a Federal grant (TLP) to support Pathways, received a $150,000 grant to sustain and continue the Community Counseling Clinic, and received a grant to focus on meth prevention education through Friday Night Live.
By the end of the decade: Operating budget was 7 million dollars, long-time Executive Director Linda Kovacs retired after 26 years, and Cindy Duenas, Program Director, was appointed to the Executive Director position effective January 1, 2010 by the Board of Directors.
